Agenda Item #24

Item Title
C-25 Increase Petty Cash Fund Amount for Student Services Department

Issue/Rationale

State Board of Education Rule 6A-1.057 authorizes the use of petty cash funds for small expenditures for the operation of schools.  The Rule requires that each fund must be authorized by the School Board as to the amount.

Petty cash funds are used by the schools/departments for postage and other incidental purchases under $50.00 where it is not feasible for a purchase order to be issued.

The Student Services Department needs a $150.00 increase in its petty cash fund amount from $150.00 to $300.00.  The Student Services Department will use the petty cash fund for low-cost incidental items and emergency purchases in accordance with the Clay County School District Petty Cash Fund General Rules.

Recommended Action
Approve petty cash fund in the amount of $300.00 at the Student Services Department for the remainder of the 2010-2011 fiscal year.

Financial Impact
There is no direct financial effect on budgets by the approval of the petty cash fund.
